Dr Anas A. Bisu is an Electronics, Telecommunications and ICT expert with both academic and industry experience. He holds Bachelor’s (1st class honours) and Master’s degrees in Electronics from Bayero University, Kano, and Master’s degree in Communication Systems Engineering from the University of Portsmouth, England United Kingdom (UK).
Anas achieved his Ph.D. in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Durham, England-UK with a research focus on Internet congestion control and performance optimisation of heterogeneous networks such as Integrated Satellite-Terrestrial Networks (ISTNs), and Satellite-Terrestrial networks for 5G (SaT5G). The University of Oxford, England, and European Space Agency (ESA) jointly trained him on Satellite Communications Technology.
Mr. Bisu is an experienced academic at the University level with many years of teaching, research & administrative experience at Bayero University, Kano-Nigeria, and Durham University, England-UK. He taught at sub-degree, UG, PG, levels where he coordinated an undergraduate degree program in Electronics from entry-level to graduation and supervised many final year UG/PG students. Anas served on different university committees and currently a serving member of the IT management committee at Durham University, England-UK. Mr. Bisu’s industry experiences include ALCATEL LUCENT Tech., Nigeria, Dantata & Sawoe Construction Co. PLC, Nigeria, and recently with 4G-LTE/5G Core network team at Hellenic Telecoms Organisation (OTE), Greece.
He is a Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK, and a professional member of renowned institutions including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
Anas holds professional certifications in Telecommunications and ICT from reputable institutions including IEEE, Mathworks, Cisco Inc and many more. He also won several awards including multiple prizes at Durham University three minutes thesis (3MT) competitions, Engineering and Computing Science conference paper award, and IEEE best track paper award in Mobile and Wireless Communications. He also won multiple overseas scholarship merit awards and research grants including Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Nigeria scholarships at both MSC and Ph.D. levels, Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF), UK and European Union Horizon 2020 (EUH2020) Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Grants.
Anas is passionate about helping other young to succeed through formal and informal mentorship. He is open-minded and enjoys exchanging ideas and learning new things.
