Dr. Bashir Jelani Usman is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Materials, University of Manchester, United Kingdom. His Ph.D. research focuses on the Correlation between Accelerated Electrochemical and Technological Corrosion Testing Methods on Treated Light Alloys. He is a materials scientist with interest in Corrosion, Electrochemistry and Metallurgy.
Before joining the University of Manchester, Bashir received M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, Saudi Arabia and B.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria.
Bashir lectures in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry, Kebbi State University of Science and Technology, Kebbi State, Nigeria. He has a demonstrated record of inspiring and instructing students when he taught several general chemistry courses at the university.
Bashir authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed papers in reputable international refereed journals and has also presented/contributed to local and international conferences. He is a member of professional organizations including, the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and the Electrochemical Society (ECS).
He is also a recipient of several scholarships and awards including the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals scholarships for M.Sc. (2014) and Ph.D. (2016). Bashir is also a beneficiary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Ph.D. scholarship.
Bashir is always fascinated to promote societal developments especially through training of the younger ones to attain high levels of excellence in different endeavors. Therefore, he is actively involved in providing professional guidance and mentorship to the youth.
