Dr. Gazali Tanimu

Dr. Gazali Tanimu is a Chemical Engineer with a specialization in Heterogeneous Catalysis applications to Petroleum refining and petrochemicals. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) degree in Chemical Engineering (1st class honors) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated as the overall best student of the university in the 2011/2012 session. He has won several scholarships including Federal Government scholarship, PTDF local scholarship scheme for UG students, PTDF professorial chair merit scholarship, Addax Petroleum, Mobil Nigeria Limited, and Shell Petroleum Development Company scholarships.

Gazali obtained his Masters of Science (MSc) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering both from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia in the years 2016 and 2019, respectively. His research focused on the novel processes for producing value-added products from liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). He has participated in several workshops organized by the Center for Refining and Petrochemicals (CRP) at KFUPM for Saudi ARAMCO, SABIC, and other petroleum/petrochemicals industries in the Kingdom. He has several publications in high impact reputable international journals and also contributed to several conferences/symposia. He has also filed several invention disclosures to the US patent office. He is a professional member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (NSChE) and the Saudi Arabian Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (SAS-AICHE).

Gazali is a lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering, ABU, Zaria. He has successfully trained/mentored many UG/PG students both at ABU and KFUPM. He is currently the Departmental Assistant Research Coordinator at ABU. His research areas are mainly heterogeneous catalysis, reaction engineering, kinetic modeling, thermodynamic analysis, etc. He is skilled in handling various types of chemical reactors, analytical/characterization machines and has an understanding of different chemical and computational softwares including DWSIM, ASPEN HYSYS, ThermoSolver, Kinetic Modelling Editor (KME), Minitab.

Dr. Tanimu co-authored a book on Basic Calculations in Chemistry for secondary school students. He is an active member in the programs organized for voluntary extramural teaching/mentoring to secondary and fresh level university students in Zaria and its environs. He enjoys playing football and surfing the internet at his leisure hours.
